it is with deep sadness that we say good-bye to krista moroge

Krista Moroge was an amazing woman cut from an entirely different cloth than you or I.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Krista spread her wings and moved West eventually landing in Salt Lake City where she worked incredibly hard for over a decade with Burton Snowboards' as the Territory Manager for Montana, Utah and Wyoming, along with its subsidiaries, Analog, Anon, Gravis and Red. (Please Read On)

Not only was Krista a down-right humble and open person to all, she was welcoming and willing to try new things with a giant smile on her face. She skated better than any of us-pools switch, rode motorcycles lower to the ground and faster than I could ever imagine doing all the while helping to turn Burton into a an absolute dominating force in the Rocky Mountains. She was highly respected by all her colleagues; she was a rep's rep having been nominated as the 2007 SIA Northwest Rep of The Year and later that same year as Future Snowboards' Trade Rep of The Year. Most importantly, Krista lived her life to the fullest-she really did.

In 2007 Krista was diagnosed with breast cancer. As so many forms of cancer slow people down, Krista refused to let it do so and took her thriving rep business and created SLKC to better serve her friends (what many refer to as clientele) and became involved in SeventyK, as well as working alongside of the Susan G. Komen For The Cure cleverly bringing breast cancer awareness to kids throughout Utah.

Krista is survived by her husband, Park, her New York, Northwest and Rocky Mountain families where she spent good parts of her life, as well.

You are beyond missed already, there will never be another one like you,
Krista.

Our love and hearts are with you.

Travis Rice Joins A Union

So, we reported that Travis Rice signed a deal to the newly formed NOW Bindings with part ownership while up at Baldface recently... umm, we were misinformed (damn, Canadian in-the-know!). Rice was offered a deal with NOW but turned to Seattle's Best. It appears that Rice has signed with non-other...

Upsidedown Snow at Solitude

*All images: Forrest Gladding Fun day. This was my first real (kind of) pow day this season. BCC received about 8" of fresh (12" in loaded spots), heavy goodness. We schralped some upper bowls and headed to Summit Chair for greater top-to-bottom. The three of us dropped into some tree chute;...

NOW Snowboard Bindings Leaps into bed with T. Rice

Rumor has it (oh, there we go again!) that while Travis Rice was up at Baldface prepping for the Supernatural event, he met with JF Pelchat. Pelchat a drunken and crazed French-Candian who had a mullet the length of the TransCanada Highway once, has recently signed Travis Rice to a 50% ownership...

The Upside Of A Down Season

The snow base out West is so upside down. We are now riding on a rain crust layer here in Utah, there are dirt patches everywhere over ten thousand feet-and it's warm, damn warm-and then it gets icy, really icy. The only way to explain it to others not out here, is to say ''it's like a really...

Smog City, Utah

Grim. Grim is one word to describe the post apocalyptic conditions of the greater Salt Lake City area. A strong ridge of high pressure has set-up an invisibly strong barer to clear and clean weather. The smog-or as the weather people on the news refer to it as, ''haze'', has become that of thick...

So HOT, So FRESH: Milo's Crowbars.

Very few things separate us humans in life. Thanks to our DNA make-up, we all share physical characteristics like eyes, noses, teeth (unless you live in the South where mouth ivory is optional), etc. Yet as humans we strive to be different and stand apart from one another, whether it is by way of...

Solitude

I met up with Forrest in the bottom of BCC parking lot. We carpooled up to Soli, strapped-in and had a way fun mini-shred session of high speed lappers, butters and 180s. We still need 3-8 feet of snow to make it just right. Our day was spent mocking runs and slashing turns... which almost got my...
