Epic
This is long over due. That is why I am packing three Ride Reports into one.
Powder Mountain was awesome as usual. Unfortunately the roof came down on us and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. The mourning was great and I would have had more footage if I would have checked my gopro before heading down the mountain. It was set on taking pics, so I took a pic at the beginning of every run the first half of the day. Plus I have to mention that the filmer for Powder Mountain and the Canyons is my wife. I am lucky to have a wife with skill!
The Canyons is my old home resort but John showed me a new side. If any of you are ever going to the Canyons hit up John, he knows all the good spots and he will show you the best time you will ever have.
Reno Nevada was a bitter sweet. It snowed so much that our shitty Ford Focus with Summer tires didn't even make it outside of Reno. Never rent from Alamo! The good news was that roads and resorts were closed because of weather, I was able to find some comfort in that. Next day we chartered a bus from the Hotel to Mt. Rose. We were thinking we would be drowning in snow but upon arrival, around 10 am, we found the mountain totally tracked. Later we found out that Mt. Rose opens at 8:30 and the Powderhounds here come out in serious swarms. We were lucky enough that we caught the opening of the Chutes, check out their Map to see what I mean, and it was on. I was chocking on snow and it was the best run of my season, hopefully not the only one.
Super Pow up top and getting heavier the lower you go. There were only a couple small bottom section where the snow was pretty solid. But all worth it!
Wind swept up high with nice powder below.
Nice powder in the trees, above tree line wind swept.
