Storm Chasin'

When:
Tue, 01/17/2012
Where:
Wolf Creek
State / Province:
North America
Who:
Cory Arola and Paul Bourdon
Temperature:
12F
Conditions:

18+ inches of fresh

After watching this storm develop it was decided Sunday night that depending on the snow totals we say Monday morning would dictate whether we took the trip down to Wolf Creek, CO. The storm delayed, only laying 6 inches down for the a.m. report, however looking at the radar and CDOT camera we new it was game on. It snowed blower all day Monday, Monday night, and all day Tuesday. Paul had Monday and Tuesday off, I myself went to work Monday faked ill, we drove down that night and I called in sick Tuesday. It was a sickness only powder could cure!

Temperature: 47F
Conditions:
Cold, clear and sunny. Windy above tree line. Snow was sun-cupped, runneled and rock hard. A little surface softening provided adequate edge hold.
2:30 A.M. Sunday August 7th I rolled over and pulled a second cover over me in bed. Two hours later I awoke to my alarm, I hopped in the shower. While making breakfast I was chilled, I thought it was nothing more than being wet from my shower. I dressed quickly, putting on soccer shorts and a t-...
