A few homies

It was hot and beautiful. I rode horrible and filmed even worse, though I did capture a dude snowboarding in khaki shorts, a long sleeve RL button down tucked into said shorts, topped off with a dress leather belt. Win. The beer was good as well.

Sun, 01/15/2012 Mad River Glen & Sugarbush

Temperature: 2F
Conditions:

12" of fluffy powder on top of 2-3 inches of freshly frozen base. Very cold. Very cold.

Yes. This is the single worst cover photo for a powder report in the history of 7YW. So kids, what did we learn? Charge the f'n battery when it's going to be sub zero, arctic, chill. So the report, sans photos. I pulled off the double pow attack for the second time this season, meeting up...

Thu, 12/29/2011 Mad River Glen & Sugarbush

Temperature: 2F
Conditions:

12-18" of Utah light powder. A surprisingly consistent base. Cold, cold, cold. Light winds in places, pretty epic overall.

The second of 30 poaches will surely go down as one of the best. Our little section of Vermont got thumped unexpectedly* by a massive helping of light powder. *Note: I had tracked this storm on the 7YW weather page since xmas eve and was ready. J-Mac and I met up in the MRG lot at 5:30-6 am. My...

Thu, 11/24/2011 Mad River Glen

Temperature: 29F
Conditions:

Surprisingly good, less water content than expected, 8-12 inches with the heavy stuff on the bottom

With the site rebuild, which has sucked up all of my limited free time, I didn't have a chance to get this ride report up. So here it is, the Thanksgiving Poach.

Sat, 04/09/2011 Squaw Valley

Temperature: 45F
Picking up where I dropped off in part one, I arose on Saturday at the Calgary airport and hopped an early flight to San Francisco. The original scheme was to get to Tahoe to ride on Sunday, cruising back to SF for work on Monday. I quickly appended this plot to include a day of riding on Monday...

Fri, 04/08/2011 Kicking Horse

Temperature: 32F
Conditions:

Bluebird and gorgeous, fast fast fast snow, pockets of powder for the dedicated ferrets

Ever since the five day work week was legislated, the working man has schemed ways to maximize the weekend. On occasion, if lucky and strategic with a precious few vacation days, the poor slob may achieve the holy grail of the daily grind, the long weekend. I not only pulled off the mythical 4...

Sun, 03/20/2011 Log Reserve Project

Temperature: 42F
Conditions:

Icy, slushy, sparse coverage

The past few weeks have been rough for my family and as such priorities had to be shifted. Unfortunately, this meant giving up one of my favorite months to ride, March (at some point I will put up the Utah report). This weekend I had my girls at Grandma's, better known as the Log Reserve. While...

Mon, 03/07/2011 Snowbird/The Canyons

Temperature: 20F
Conditions:

powder, poof, powder, rad.

I have been wanting to do a "best of" post from last winter for awhile. In thinking it through, I realized that one ride report was missing, and even though it wasn't the most epic, I think it captures the spirit that makes the 7YW roll. So here it is, "The Utah Trip". The trip was meant to be a...
